I want to begin by thanking everyone for making this blog a growing success! It is truly a joy to write for you and I hope you continue to read in 2010.

1. Maintain Your Beauty - Mind, Body and Soul!
My goal this year is to establish a workable beauty regimen and stick to it! Have you ever been in the drug store and suddenly the “I need a makeover” mood strikes and you end up spending a bunch of money on products you’ll use maybe once or twice? It happens to me all the time! To avoid this, decide on a daily beauty regimen that is both efficient and effective at maintaining your look so the need to make yourself over all the time dissipates.
Manicure Mondays: After the kids are asleep, hubby is taken care of, or work is over, vow to take 20 minutes to do an at-home manicure. If you’re trying to increase nail strength, put an extra layer of clear polish on your nails. To touch up old polish, rub a little cuticle oil on your nails. Olive oil is the best for healthy cuticles! After about three weeks, you will notice your nails are a lot nicer with little effort!
Take-away Tuesdays: This is your official shave day. If you need to shave more often, link it up with one of these other days. This could also be a day to get the brows taken care of! Here are some great local spots in different price ranges and a do-it-yourself video!
Womanly Wednesdays: Use this day to take care of your body through yoga, Pilates or whatever form of exercise/relaxation you choose. Afterward, apply a facial mask and peruse a fashion mag while waiting for your face to dry. Twenty minutes of rejuvenation will do wonders for your face! Below are a few great face emollients (masks?).
Tressy Thursdays: Take care of your hair needs today! For some, this may mean washing your hair, clipping the ends, or moisturizing/deep conditioning your scalp. No matter your hair type, take one day out of the week to assess your tresses and take care of them! Need a great stylist in the Charlotte area? The November issue of B.L.I.S has them!
Exfoliation Fridays: I have done this for a while! I know I talk about exfoliation a lot but I cannot stress it enough! Before you head out for Friday night festivities, take a second to exfoliate elbows, knees, and heels! Now your silky soft and ready to hit all of Charlotte’s hottest spots.
Not only will you look “pulled together” without a lot of effort, you will begin to learn and know yourself a lot more. My OB/GYN said a woman who knows her body can detect subtle changes for the better (or worse). Let’s spend a little time on us!
B.L.I.Sology 101: Perfecting the Smokey Eye
Ladies, the smokey look isn’t going anywhere, so you might as well learn how to do it! The key to achieving this is the use of good brushes and great shadows. Use these helpful hints to create the look below.
Purple Haze Recipe by Danielle Lennon
Ingredients
-Purple shadow/metallic or glitter color hints (Recommendations: Cover Girl eye shadow pack in Amethyst or All That Glitters by MAC cosmetics)
-Gray or a deep plum shadow (Recs: benefit Up in Smoke eye shadow or Embark by MAC cosmetics)
-A metallic soft/sheer shadow (Recs: Rice Paper by MAC cosmetics)
-A black shadow (Recs: Any dark shadow brand will do)
-Waterproof eyeliner (Recs: benefit Bad Gal Lash)
-Mascara (Recs: Cover Girl Lash Blast, MAC lacquer wear)
-3 Brushes (eyeshadow brushes from Target will do!)
Step 1: Make sure you begin with a clean face! And always being with your eyes first! Your foundation should be the last thing you apply so that you can use it to clean up any mistakes you may leave behind.
Step 2: Using the brush and the purple shadow, from the corner of your eye to the end glide the color on gently. For more pop, use a lot of shadow. Your eyelid ends when you begin to feel the crease.
Step 3: Use a napkin to clean the brush. Place the brush in the gray shadow and place this color in your crease, YES! The colors will be drastically different, this is okay. Use the shadow to coat your entire crease and add a little more toward your outer lid for a more dramatic look
Step 4: Using the soft metallic sheer shadow to highlight your brow bone right under your eyebrows, pay close attention to your arch. Placing light shadow in your arch makes for a more professional look.
Step 5: Using the first brush, get your black shadow and make boomerang formations toward the end of your eye between. Do not go above your crease.
Step 6: Use a bigger brush to blend your colors together, they should fade into each other and leave no lines!
Step 7: Line your lid with liquid eyeliner! Line the top to make a sexy cat lash line! Also line underneath your eyes. For a more dramatic look, go a little heavier on the eye liner.
Step 8: Smudge some of the liner into the make-up to give you a smokey and messy, but cute look.
Step 9: Apply two strong coats of mascara and you’re done!
