New Year, New B.L.I.S.

In style

Find your fashion style this year!

So often we try to define our style by looking at magazines and letting others tell us what’s “in” or “out.” While these are helpful tools, sometimes taking inventory of your own personality may result in the trendiest outfit around! Use your mind and search your body and soul to unearth your fashionista!  Talk a little bit about what your style is and give a couple of examples what a personality type might mean fashion-wise – “You’re laid back and don’t care for heels, but that doesn’t mean you have to look like a tomboy, purchase a cute pair of ballet flats, etc.”

Here’s a few ways to get started:

1. Create your own shoes with ShoeDazzle.com! The Kardashian sisters echo my January advice the best. I am currently in the process of designing my own shoe on their website and having them send it to me! You can add charms and create your own look! Talk about stealing the show! If you are a shoe fanatic and want to be truly original, make this Web site a favorite!

2. Take a trip to Capit0l Boutique . A Charlotte favorite, Capital prides itself on original styles with a “Charlotte flair.” They’re not a very trendy shop, but more of a classic boutique with associates who focus on rounding out your closet with wardrobe staples instead of stacking it with random items that are here today, gone tomorrow.

Here is a review of Capitol boutique:

I was pleasantly surprised to see it featured in a supplement to Marie Claire’s September’s issue called ‘

The New Way to Shop.’ Laura Vinroot Poole is featured as a ‘smart retailer’ and I’m not sure if the items shown are in her store,

but even if they aren’t, items she does have are sure to be just as awesome! I can’t wait to visit her store the next time I make the trek from Raleigh to Charlotte!

 Pros: Awesome sense of fashion

 3. Accessories: Big jewels are a do!

Big costume jewelery with simple white button downs are on the streets. Try Aldo, Handpicked or the Jewel box  in Charlotte to get a chunky, costume necklace and pair it with a little black dress, a crisp white shirt or  an off-the-shoulder sweater!

Several chains are also a do! Try linked chains with T-shirts for a quick glam look or to make a vintage outfit more current!

 Always remember to live B.L.I.Sfully!
